Navy City Metals - 14 vs Lenys Crew - 38
Navy City looked strong early, they were able to get a long sustained drive together using a good running game sprinkled with a few key passes. But Lenys Crew held at the goal line and Conley White came up with an INT. Lenys Crew wasted no time getting the scoring party started. Using some spread concepts, they were able to free up Conley White on the sideline for a long TD. Lenys D held again and they were able to get another score on the board before halftime. Navy City got a score on the board in the second half with a passing TD to Xavier Chambers, but Lenys Crew answered right back with a long TD pass. Navy City QB, Sio Fakatoufifita, was able to connect with Milton Meyers for second TD using a hurry up offense, but again, Lenys Crew answered quickly. Bobby Henry caught a short dump pass and took it down to the three yard line, setting up another score. Lenys Crew slammed the door shut when Duane Cronin had a pick 6 on Navy City Metals final drive.
Buzz Killers - 12 vs Blue & Green - 13
Blue & Greens D looked really strong early as Ellison Tran came up with two INTs on Buzz Killers first two drives. But their offense struggled to get the ball moving and Buzz Killers were able to get a drive together. Joe Dennison connected with Jon Lyon for a TD pass give Buzz Killers an early lead. Blue & Green answered back, scoring on a pass from Elison Tran to Bernard Bloser. They were also able to connected with Richie Rosabella for the conversion, which proved to be the difference at the end of the game.
The two teams traded possessions a few times in the second half with the Buzz Killers putting a drive together as the clocked ticked down. They were able to find Bryan Sherman out of the backfield for a TD pass with about 30 seconds left till 5 plays. The conversion failed and the Buzz Killers were hanging onto a 5 pt lead. Blue & Green drove the length of the field utilizing the speed and athleticism of their QB, Ellison Tran, who connected with Viet Ly for the game winning TD pass with 2 plays left in the game. The conversion failed but Blue & Green had the lead and were able to hold for the final 2 plays to end the game.
Chiefs - 16 vs Good Times - 8
Good Times really tried to grind on the Chiefs by running double RB and TE sets and using a punishing running game. They looked to be controlling the line of scrimmage as the game started, but the Chiefs continued to make great flag pulls in traffic limiting the impact of the running game. The Chiefs were able to force a turnover on downs and scored pretty quickly as QB Adam Kruse hit Demitri Hoffman for a TD up the sideline. The conversion was good and the Chiefs looked like they might really open up the scoring. Good Times had different plans though, and stuck with the heavy running game, chewing up yards and clock...but ultimately not putting points on the board. The Chiefs got another stop, and their offense got the ball moving, punching in another TD on a pass from Adam Kruse.
On the previous drive, Good Times QB Joe Coates hurt his knee, so Good Times turned to Tyson Carter to finish the game out. He struggled at first, but Good Times defense stepped up, coming up with two huge sacks to put the Chiefs way behind the chains and forced a turnover on downs. The offense was able to get on the board with a quick pass to Ramon Richmond, who was able to avoid a few flag pulls and go 50+ yards to the endzone. The D again held and Good Times had the last drive of the game, getting down to the 3yrd line before Adam Kruse came up with a INT to wrap up the W for the Chiefs.
Ellison Tran - Blue & Green : Ellison came up with 2 INTs early on in the game, and rose to the occasion when his number was called to step in at QB. He threw for 2 TD’s and a conversion, leading his team on a game winning drive with no time left on the clock.
