When considering your team’s placement in the rankings, please keep in mind that winning a tournament, regardless of the division you are in (Elite or Competitive) is no easy task and we give a lot of credit to teams that can do that. Sometimes it depends on how competitive a tournament is and what your team’s/league’s strengths are. We use the following outline as our general guide in ranking teams
A. Regional Tournament Performance
- Tournament championships / Strength of tournament competition
- Tournament finals appearances
- Tournament semi-finals appearances
- Head to Head tournament match-ups/record
- Tournament appearances
- League championships / Strength of local league competition

Who is in our Top 5 and why?
The Lady Legit team is well traveled, having compete in California and all over the state of Oregon. They are current the top team in the state of Oregon and sit atop the women’s rankings across the entire NW. They have a very deliberate style of play, using a balanced blend of disciplined plays that keep the defense guessing. They are by far the deepest well balanced team and hold numerous tournament championships and most recently finished as the runner up in the Medford Snow Bowl, losing to the National Champions - Fresno Lady Stingrays.
2. Grants Pass Tight Endz
The Tight Endz can go Toe to Toe with Lady Legit. In the 2016 Snow Bowl they won the first matchup, 16-6, but on day 2, with a trip to the championship, the fell short in the last few seconds of the game, losing 15-14. The bottom line is the gap is very narrow between number 1 and the rest of the top 5. If you don’t show up with your best game against the Tight Endzs they will put it on you! This team has a great D-rush and really puts pressure on opposing teams QB’s. Their offense is well balanced with good leadership and well executed plays. They are easily in striking distance of #1 and have the ability to hold the spot once they get it. Time will tell if they can make that happen.
3. Medford Empire
Medford Empire (Formerly GLAM) is the Medford Snow Bowl Comp Division winners. They have a very strong rush with some great height. Their rush creates problems for shorter QB’s who like to try to stand tall in the pocket and throw down the field. Their height also becomes a huge factor when trying to decide how to defend them. Their tall WR’s create mismatches on the outside stretching the defense and setting up under routes for big chunks. When everything is clicking for Empire they are hard to stop. If they are able to move up to The Elite level and get some hardware in 2016 they will be in contention for the number 1 spot.
4. Eugene Reign
This is a team quickly rising! They have a ton of raw talent, depth and a wide range of player types and abilities. They are still pretty new to Flag football but they have an RB with shifty hips who is great at setting up blocks and a ultra talented WR/DB tandem that can create problems for teams in the secondary. Their O-line is dual threat, able to protect and run block when needed but they are also dangerous with the ball in their hand catching dump offs. This team has a ton of determination, willingness and desire to learn the game. They will be extremely dangerous as all their weapons start to gel and they start knocking on the door in the Championship games.
5. Seattle The Wink Brow (U)
The Wink Brow (U) are no stranger to the top spots, having played together for years with a few different team names, known in the Seattle area as The U and/or Do Work, with a few different championships under their belt. A few of the players on this team also have background/ experience playing on the Seattle Majestic's, a premier women’s tackle team. As a co-ed team, many players have been part of Underdog Sports Championships, both at the league level and the Underdog regional tournament level. They are a well seasoned and experienced with the passion and knowledge to rise quickly in the NW Rankings. The team has a good balance of player types, with athletes to compete with most of the top 5 teams. Come June, at the Salem Freedom Bowl, they will get that chance to put it on display and make a claim for the top spot in the NW.
Who Surprised us?
(9) Salem Blitz
The Dino Nuggets are a pretty new women’s team in the Seattle area. Many of their players have played for years as a co-ed team in the Seattle area and when it was announced that Seattle Parks was going to have a women’s league they jumped on board. Their “strategies” can be as simple as get open and they really get all their teammates involved throughout a game. This worked to their advantage when they squared off with Wink Brow (U) in league play knocking them off 31-26.
The Salem Blitz has really expanded their competitiveness in the Women’s game in Oregon. While they haven’t cracked the Top 5 year, they are following a similar path of Legit. They have a good core of players, especially a few RB’s that are dangerous with the ball in their hands. Once their defense starts firing on all cylinders watch out!
